ASPIRE School Building Project

ASPIRE Training and Education is a registered non-profit FREE educational program. Due to the current economic climate in Cambodia there is an increase in families who cannot support their children. This has driven Sean Samnang, President of ASPIRE, to envision a larger village for the children, where up to 30 children can be housed in a sustainable village. This village will also provide free onsite schooling for up to 700 children in need, from the local area, and it also aims to train them in trades such as air-conditioning repairs, wood carving and sewing, as well as teaching them English, so that they might have a better chance of supporting themselves once they reach adulthood.

Sustainable Village Project is prioritizing funding requirements for the following projects:

1. Building an onsite school

ASPIRE Training & Education was registered on 14th November, 2012 with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (registration No: 3385.) Building has already commenced on the school project with funds from donations. However, more funding is required in order to complete the project. Both projects aim to provide education and skills or training opportunities for the poor, orphaned and at-risk youth in Cambodia. The Medical Center comes to ASPIRE Sustainable Village Project and aims to offer onsite health care to the children at ASPIRE School as well as children in surrounding areas who currently do not have access to health care due to extreme poverty. ASPIRE school currently relies on donations from the public to continue its operations and it is with this in mind that ASPIRE Principal, Mr Sean Samnang, aims to create a more self-sufficient and sustainable village.

Location:

Aspire Sustainable Village Project will go under construction at the current 1.5 hectare property located at Trang Village, Kandek Commune, Prasat Bakong District, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia.

Aspire Sustainable Village in Community Project Vision:

At the conclusion of the project, it is proposed that the ASPIRE school and village will consist of five houses for volunteers to stay and help the children in the community,  three school buildings for 700 students, two open volleyball courts, a football field, a storage building, a toilet building, a library, a hall for traditional Khmer dancing, a medical center building, an ASPIRE souvenir shop, staff accommodation, an office, fish pond and chicken house. At present, a water tank is being erected and a vegetable garden is being established on the property.

Mission for ASPIRE School:

ASPIRE's mission is to offer students the acquisition of knowledge, employable skills training, and a positive work ethic as well as to teach a variety of laboring/ trade skills. Therefore, the curriculum will include a combination of both theory-based and hands-on practical learning with an aim to support and guide the children towards a self-sufficient and positive future.

All students/ trainees will receive the fundamentals of moral, physical, educational and civic values. They will gain extra skills in English Language and Computer Science and be given the opportunity to participate in a range of religious, recreational and social activites.

Target group:

The school will accommodate poverty-stricken and/ or orphaned students boarders as well as day students from our community here in Siem Reap and other provinces in Cambodia. The students will have at least finished their studies in grades 9-12. However, high risk/ poverty stricken youth with minimal education will also be considered for practical skills training. All students will be required to contribute to the upkeep of the school and various ASPIRE projects according to their capabilities. In doing so, students will receive practical, on the job training in a variety of areas including farming, maintenance, air-conditioner repairs, wood carving, sewing, administration, tourism and medical assistance. Students'active participation will aid to minimize cost expenses.

To build the dormitory for the children and volunteers is progressing about 50% who donated from visitors and volunteering.
